Stevie Wonder’s hopeful ballad ‘Stay Gold’ remains the iconic musical front of Francis Ford Coppola’s bratpack-filled adaptation of S.E. Hinton’s novel, and remains a pretty lovely song. But much should also be made of the score by Carmine Coppola (father of Francis). Full of boldness and brash melodies such as the ‘Fate Theme’, it’s a tribute to the Golden Age of Hollywood film scoring that is greatly missed in movies today. The album is a reissue of the fast-selling out of print limited edition by Music Box Records, and is a treat to have available again.
